Where does Uzbek gas going?

Asia-Plus

Tajikistan received about 7.5 million cubic meters of natural gas from Uzbekistan, but the population does not receive it.

Up to September 1, 7 million 498.7 thousand cubic meters were delivered to Tajikistan from Tajikistan, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan said in its monthly report "Monitoring and Early Notification in Tajikistan".

The amount of natural gas delivered in March-August from Uzbekistan reaches almost $ 745 thousand, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The main consumer of Uzbek "blue fuel" at the moment is the Tajik Aluminum Company, which accounts for about 80% of the total volume of deliveries, these are the data of "Tajiktransgaz".

The report says that more than 10 small enterprises of the country, such as JSC "Aziz", "Gazi Regar", brick production enterprises and others, also received Uzbek gas.

The Tajik gas distribution company notes that gas supplies can also be set up for other willing enterprises as they become ready.

In particular, Tajiktransgaz underlines the issue of supplying Uzbek gas to the capital heat and power plants with the start of a new heating season.

The possibilities of gas supply to the population are also being considered, but there are some issues, in particular, the readiness of the infrastructure, which requires a certain amount of time.

Recall, according to the contract signed by the gas distribution companies of two countries, Uzbekistan will provide Tajikistan in 2018 with about 126 million cubic meters of natural gas for a total amount of $ 15.1 million.

Uzbekistan sells Tajikistan natural gas at $ 120 per each thousand cubic meters.

In return electricity for $ 22 million.

Tajikistan, in turn, for this period exported to Uzbekistan more than 1.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity for more than $ 22 million.

The export of Tajik electricity to Uzbekistan, as well as the supply of Uzbek gas to Tajikistan, began in April this year, after years of interruption.

It is expected that by the end of this year, Tajikistan exports to Uzbekistan at least 1.5 billion kWh per year.

According to the agreements reached by the electric power companies of two countries, Uzbekistan pays for each kilowatt of Tajik electricity at 2 American cents.

Commodity turnover continues to grow.

Tajikistan and Uzbekistan for the eight months of this year, traded among themselves for almost $ 175 million. Tajik-Uzbek trade in comparison with the same period last year increased by 2.3 times.

At the same time, Uzbekistan this year became the second (after Moldova) country in the CIS, with which Tajikistan has a positive trade balance: the import of Uzbek goods was realized for a little more than $ 77 million while the Tajik products were exported to a neighboring country for more than $ 96 million.

Before that, for all the years of independence, the import of Uzbek products prevailed over the export of Tajik goods.

At present, Tajikistan exports primary aluminum, electricity, cotton fiber, ore, cement, untreated leather, cocoon, raw silk, various fabrics, alcoholic beverages, carpets, etc. to the neighboring republic.

Imported from Uzbekistan are textile products, mineral fertilizers, plastic, footwear, ceramics, non-ferrous metals, electrical and mechanical equipment.
