A habitual offender has been detained in Dushanbe for armed robbery.
A 40-year-old Munim Azratqulov, known in criminal circles under the nickname ‘Michel’, has been detained at Dushanbe International Airport, according to the Interior Ministry’s website.
He reportedly wanted to fly to Russia in order to evade justice in Tajikistan.
The website says that at the beginning of this year, Azratqulov together with his accomplice, a 30-year-old resident of Dushanbe Gadomadov, seized 9,600 U.S. dollars and 10,000 somoni from Dushanbe resident threatening him with gun.
Azratqulov had already been jailed in Russia for organization of robbery, the website added.
