The Government of Tajikistan has endorsed new measures to prevent the impact of possible risks on the country’s economy. By government’s decree issued on November 30 a new anti-crisis action plan was approved.
The government’s decree officially titled “The Plan of Actions on Coordination of Implementation of the Macroeconomic Policy and Prevention of Impact of Possible Risks on the National Economy” reportedly consists of twenty-four items and it will be introduced into action on January 1, 2019, replacing the anti-crisis action plan that was adopted by the government in 2015.
One of items of the plan provides for preventing unfounded rise in prices for “socially necessary goods, the liquefied natural gas, gasoline, and railway services.”
Besides, the new anti-crisis action plan includes measures to reduce dependence of the national economy on one destination country for labor migration that provides for diversification of countries receiving Tajik labor migrants.
The new ant-crisis action plan also provides for implementation of an efficient monetary policy, strengthening of control and regulation of banks activities, improvement of infrastructure of payment systems, expansion of cashless payments, etc.
The new anti-crisis action plan also provides for monitoring of targeted and efficient use of funds of investment projects and elimination of problems existing in this area.
Besides, the document includes measures to ensure sustainable activity of state-owned enterprises and troubled banks.
One of the plan’s items provides for improvement of financial and economic situation of large enterprises, particularly Barqi Tojik, Tajik Aluminum Company, Tajik Air and Tajik Railways.
The new anti-crisis action plan also includes measures aimed at improving investment climate and developing entrepreneurship in the country.
