A total debt of enterprises and organizations (small enterprises not included) rose 20.9 billion somoni (equivalent to 2.2 billion U.S. dollars) in a year to September 31, 2018, reaching 63.4 billion somoni (equivalent to 6.7 billion U.S. dollars), according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
Meanwhile, their receivables reportedly amount to little more than 20.1 billion somoni.
The percentage of loss making enterprises women in the overall number of Tajikistan’s enterprises is some 28 percent.
Most of the loss-making enterprises were registered in the manufacturing industry – 27.6 percent of the overall number.
Besides, a relatively large number of the loss-making enterprises was also registered in the construction sector (14.7 percent) and in the transport and communications sector (7.5 percent).
Tajikistan’s national integrated power company Barqi Tojik reportedly accounts for nearly 25 percent of the enterprises’ total debt. Current debts of Barqi Tojik (including funds attracted for implementation of investment projects) reportedly amount to more than 15 billion somoni.
