Asia-Plus

One person was killed and two others were injured yesterday as an oil refinery in the northern city of Guliston (formerly Qairoqqum) was hit by blast, according to the Interior Ministry’s website.

The incident reportedly took place at 11:40 am and the explosion was apparently caused by the failure to comply with safety.

As a result of the explosion, Firdavs Poulodov, 26, was killed and two other employees – Komiljon Olimjonocv, and Chinese national Zhe Su Sin (phonetically spelled) – sustained various injuries and were hospitalized.  The injured persons are reportedly in stable condition.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.  The Guliston prosecutor’s office is investigating the incident, the website said.
