Water prices will be not be raised this year, at least in the first half of the year, Director-General of the State Unitary Enterprises (SUE) Khojagii Manziliyu Kommunali (KMK — the state holding company for public utilities), Jamshed Tabarzoda, told reporters in Dushanbe on February 11.  

According to him, LMK is currently conducting a survey to assess the real cost of production of drinking water.

“The survey will be published after summing up of the results of wok carried out in the second quarter of this year,” Tabarzoda said, adding that under the country’s legislation, prices for water and other public utilities should be reviewed every year. 

In Dushanbe, tariffs for drinking were significantly raised on October 15, 2018.  Recall, Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali singed a resolution "On tariffs for water supply and sewerage" on September 17, 2018.  

According to the Appendix No. 1 of the decree, from October 15 residential customers pay 2.34 somoni for one cubic meter of water (3-fold increase), commercial organizations, including embassies and diplomatic representations pay 6.73 somoni per one cubic meter of water.

For the federally funded institutions, the cost of water increased on January 1.  2019.  They now pay 2.66 somoni per one cubic meter of water.  .

The prices are reportedly coordinated with the Antimonopoly Agency under the Government of Tajikistan.  

Also, according to the resolution, SUE "Dushanbevodokanal" (DVD – Dushanbe municipal water works) is entrusted to ensure the installation of meters for water consumption for more than 85 percent of the population of the capital until November 2019 to carry out a calculation for the actual consumption of drinking water and the use of sewerage.
