Mostly representatives of state-run media have been invited to a meeting with President Emomali Rahmon.

A source in Tajik government says heads of national TV and radio stations as well as editors-in-chief of state-run newspapers and magazines have been invited to the meeting that is being held at the Palace of Nation in Dushanbe today afternoon.

According to him, the theme of the meeting is “Coverage of World and Domestic News by Tajik Media.”

President Rahmon rarely holds meetings with journalists.  The previous such a meeting with representatives of the country’s intelligentsia, including journalists and writers, took place in December 2009.  The meeting lasted for four hours and the head of state told those present about the strategic goals of the government to achieve food security and energy independence as well as bring the country out of transport deadlock.
