Member of local council of Roudaki district accused of fraud

Several officials of Roudaki district, including member of local council (Majlis), have reportedly received a 72,000 somoni bribe for allotment of land to local resident for housing. 

According to the Agency for State Finance Control and Combating Corruption, member of Roudaki local council Davlatbek Shodiyev, deputy head of the Chorteppa jamoat Juma Mardonov, filing clerk Ahlidin Bahriyev, land surveyer Faridoun Norov and officer of the Roudaki police department Captain Aziz Fayzov are suspected of fraud.

The anticorruption agency press center says they took a bribe of 72,000 somoni from local resident Dilovar Mahmoudov for allotment of land to him for housing.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the mentioned officials and an investigation is under way.  

Meanwhile, the problem of illegal purchase and sale of land has existed in Roudaki district for a long time.

Over the past twenty years, more than 2,500 hectares of land in this district have been sold out illegally.

960 cases of illegal purchase and sale of land in Roudaki district were revealed by law enforcement authorities in 2016 alone.
