Rahmatullo Tourakhonov, the chef of the drug trafficking control department at the Interior Ministry’s office in the northern city of Istaravshan, has been detained on suspicion of taking bribe.
According to the Sughd law enforcement authorities, Tourakhonov was caught red-handed while taking 2,000 somoni from local resident P.R.
Before that, Tourakhonov reportedly took 10,000 somoni from P.R. for not prosecuting him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Tourakhonov under the provisions of Article 319 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – acceptance of bribe; an investigation is under way.
