Over the first two months of this year, food production has risen nearly 20 percent in Tajikistan, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT).
Over the report period, Tajikistan has reportedly produced 710 million somoni worth of food products, which is 117 million somoni more than in the same period last year.
The country’s requirements in many food products are now met through domestic production, an official source at a MoINT told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, Tajikistan’s requirements in meat, dairy and bakery products as well as food and technical salt, alcohol and soft drinks, canned fruits and vegetables are now met through domestic production.
Fifteen new food-producing enterprises and workshops were reportedly introduced into operation in the country last year.
Besides, several others have been introduced into operation this year. The largest of them are Vatan and Avicenna limited liability companies (dairy production), Gadj limited liability company (cooking oil production) and Siyoma limited liability company (water bottling plant), the source said.
