Tajik schoolchildren have won two cups at Mental Arithmetic World Cup that has taken place in Moscow this month on the sideline of the 5th International Mental Arithmetic Olympiad, dubbed Abacus 2019, according to press release issued by the Empire of Knowledge (Dushanbe-based private learning center).
More than 500 school students from ten countries of the world reportedly participated in the 5th International Mental Arithmetic Olympiad and schoolchildren from Tajikistan once again showed a high level of training and took the leading places.
On the sidelines of the 5th International Mental Arithmetic Olympiad, the Mental Arithmetic World Cup was held among schools being members of the Eurasian Association of Mental Arithmetic Organizations (EAOMA). EAOMA is an association of people and companies that teach mental arithmetic.
More than 400 best schoolchildren from 15 countries of the world, including Tajikistan, participated the Mental Arithmetic World Cup.
Tajik schoolchildren reportedly took the first two places and some other places of distinction at the Mental Arithmetic World Cup.
Tajik school students have reportedly won the medal standings for the 5th International Mental Arithmetic Olympiad.
Tajikistan team will participate in the PAMA Global World Competition 2019 that will take place in Thailand.
Recall, two 15-year-old schoolgirls Yosuman Ismonzoda and Manizha Toshboltayeva won the GeniusKid 2017 contest in Moscow on November 4, 2017.
Ahead of that contest, they had appeared on a popular Russian TV show, Amazing People, where they showed off their talent at mental calculation — adding, subtracting, and multiplying dozens of three-digit numbers against a stopwatch.
In each test, the teenagers came up with correct answers to standing ovations from the audience, many of whom shook their heads in disbelief.
Nicknamed "Calculator" by her fans, Ismonzoda can count dozens of digits without pen or paper while reciting poetry at the same time.
On the Russian TV show, Toshboltayeva also displayed her unusual gift for correctly guessing the speed of passing vehicles, a skill that has earned her the nickname "Radar," according to Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service.
The private learning center Empire of Knowledge was established in Dushanbe in March 2016.
