Uzbek authorities write off tax and fine debts of 1815 individual entrepreneurs in Tashkent

The Uzbek authorities have written off tax and fine debts of 1815 individual entrepreneurs in Tashkent, who owe totaling 219.7 billion sum (equivalent to more than 26 million U.S. dollars), CA-News reported, citing Uzbekistan’s State Tax Inspectorate.

All these entrepreneurs have reportedly been forced to stop their businesses because of failing to repay their debts and fines. 

524 entrepreneurs in Tashkent’s Uchteppa district, who were fined and stopped their activities, have recovered their businesses and their 39.3 billion sum (equivalent to 4.6 million U.S. dollars) debts have been written off, according to CA-News.  

In Tashkent’s Almazar district, 229 entrepreneurs have reportedly recovered their businesses and their more than 80 billion sum (equivalent to 9.5 U.S. dollars) debts have been written off.       

The State Tax Inspectorate have called on entrepreneurs having tax debts to repay them before July 1, 2019 and resume their activities.

UZDaily reported on July 29, 2018 that Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved a proposal to write off individual entrepreneurs’ debts on fixed tax and penalties accrued on these debts.

The head of Uzbekistan signed a decree on measures to further improve the system of protection of rights and legitimate interests of business entities.

In accordance with the document, Mirziyoyev approved the proposal to write off the fixed tax debt and the interest accrued on the debt data, as well as financial sanctions and court expenses (with the exception of court costs), formed at the time of entry of this Decree into force.
