Mudslide damages cemetery and residential buildings in Konibodom

Torrential rain on June 3 caused a mudslide that damaged a cemetery and several residential buildings in the village of Shurqurghon, Konibodom district of Sughd province. 

An official source at Konibodom administration told Asia-Plus by phone today morning that the mudslide has damaged dozens of graves at the cemetery and partially damaged several residential buildings in the Shurqurghon village

“We plan to restore all the damaged graves by tonight,” the source said.  

He further added that mudslides caused by yesterday’s torrential rain had damaged dozens of residential buildings and destroyed farmlands in the area of hundreds of hectares in the district.

“In all, 55 residential buildings in Konibodom district have been damaged by yesterday’s mudslides and many of them cannot be restored,” the source said.
