146 new industrial enterprises and workshops have been introduced into operation in Tajikistan over the first six months of this year creating more than 1,800 jobs, the Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Zarobiddin Fayzullozoda, told reporters in Dushanbe on July 30.

According to him, 47 new industrial enterprises have been introduced in Dushanbe, 34 in Khatlon province, 33 in Sughd province, 30 in districts subordinate to the center (RRP), and two in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

At the same time, 181 industrial enterprises and workshops with total of about 2,000 employees have suspended their operations, the minister noted.

The minister noted that reasons leading to the suspension of enterprises were different, including external factors, lack of raw materials and floating assets, license expiration, seasonal operations, technological equipment degradation, non-competitiveness of manufactured products, property disputes, and reorientation.

“On the other hand, many enterprises have been launched in the country in recent years without studying the needs of the market.  As a result, they fail to sell their products and face bankruptcy or are forced to suspend their operations,” Fayzullozoda said.

According to statistical data from the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT), 2,136 industrial enterprises now operate in Tajikistan.
