Shokirjon Khakimov: Surrendering to the authorities, Atambayev acted reasonably

Date:

Tajik political analyst believes that instability in Kyrgyzstan will affect the preservation of peace and stability in all countries of the Central Asian region.

«Ex-President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev, voluntarily surrendering to the authorities, acted reasonably and by this he proved that he did not want bloodshed and destabilization of the situation in the country», Tajik politician, Doctor of Law Shokirjon Khakimov said in an interview with AP.

He believes that if the charges put forward by the authorities against Atambayev are not investigated objectively, within the framework of the laws of the country, but are politicized, inadequate protests by the population may begin in Kyrgyzstan..

Instability in Kyrgyzstan will affect the preservation of peace and stability in all countries of the Central Asian region, – stressed Khakimov.

Meanwhile, the former president Almazbek Atambayev will be placed in the GKNB pre-trial detention center until August 26. His lawyer Sergey Slesarev informed 24.kg about this..

On August 8, a special unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs tried to detain Atambayev. All roads to Koy-Tash were blocked, at least about three thousand police officers and special equipment were pulled to the site. After a two-hour confrontation, the police managed to force the situation – Almazbek Atambayev decided to surrender.

Almazbek Atambayev has been charged with preliminary charges, but it is not yet known under which articles of the Criminal Code.
