Over the first six months of this year, Tajikistan has had the lowest volume of foreign trade turnover among the CIS member nations, according to the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics (CIS-STAT).
CIS trade statistical review prepared by CIS-STAT says the CIS trade turnover has amounted to nearly 500 billion U.S. dollars over the first six months of this year.
Tajikistan reportedly had the lowest volume of foreign trade turnover among the CIS nations over the report period – little more than 2.1 billion U.S. dollars.
Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Moldova also had relatively low foreign trade turnovers over the same six month period – 3.2 billion USD, 3.5 billion USD and 4.1 billion USD respectively.
In January-June this year, the Russian Federation had the highest foreign trade turnover – 318 billion USD. It is followed by Ukraine — 52 billion USD, Kazakhstan — 45 billion USD, Belarus — 34 billion USD, and Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan – 17 billion USD each.
Over the report period, only Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan had a positive trade balance — 93 billion USD, 11 billion USD and 3 billion USD respectively.
Over the first six months of this year, Tajikistan’s trade balance has been negative and amounted to some 1 billion USD.
