A share of profitable enterprises in a total number of industrial enterprises operating in Tajikistan has reportedly decreased by 4.3 percent.
In January-June this year, a share of profitable enterprises in a total number of industrial enterprises operating in the country was 48.6 percent, according to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
Over the same period last year, the share of profitable enterprises in a total number of industrial enterprises functioning in Tajikistan was 52.9 percent.
Most unprofitable enterprises were reported in the processing industry – 17.2 percent of a total number of unprofitable enterprises reported in the country in January-June this year.
Unprofitable enterprises reported in the trade sector reportedly account for 15.4 percent of a total number of unprofitable enterprises reported in the country over the same six-month period.
Unprofitable enterprises reported in the construction sector account for 14.2 percent of a total number of unprofitable enterprises reported in the country in January-June this year.
Unprofitable enterprises reported in transport and communications sectors as well as warehousing account for 6.7 percent of a total number of unprofitable enterprises reported in the country over the same six-month period.
As of July 1, 2019, a total debt of reporting enterprises and organizations amounted to more than 60.856.1 billion somoni (equivalent to some 6.3 billion U.S. dollars).
According to statistical date from the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT), 146 new enterprises and workshops have been introduced into operation in the country over the first six months of this year and more than 280 enterprises and workshops have suspended their operations over the same six-month period.
As of July 1, 2019, 2,136 reporting industrial enterprises and workshops were registered in Tajikistan.
