Chairman of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majliisi Namoyandagon) of parliament Shukurjon Zuhurov heading Tajik parliamentary delegation is on an official visit to Armenia within the framework of the events of the Collective Security treaty Organization (CSTO) Parliamentary Assembly.

Yesterday, Zuhurov met in Yerevan with Ararat Mirzoyan, President of the National Assembly of Armenia.

Muhammad to Sultana, a spokesman for the Malice Namoyandagon, says the two discussed issues related to parliamentary cooperation between their countries.  They, in particular, noted that parliamentarians could play more active role in expanding bilateral cooperation between Dushanbe and Yerevan.

Armenian parliament speaker noted that Armenia was interested in expanding bilateral cooperation with Tajikistan in all directions, taking into consideration mutual interests and benefits.

Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the parliamentary component played a key role in promoting expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.  He also expressed satisfaction with the activities of Armenia-Tajikistan Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Shukurjon Zuhurov, for his part, expressed hope for further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Armenia in the fields of economics, information technologies and culture.

Both sides underlined the positive dynamics of the relations between the two countries and expressed hope that the economic potential would be realized in a right way.

On the same day, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian received Tajik parliamentary delegation led by Shukurjon Zuhurov, Chairman of the National Assembly of Tajikistan.

Armenian media reports say Sarkissian underlined the importance of ongoing political dialogue between Yerevan and Dushanbe, as well as the intensification of the traditionally warm relations and inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries.

The Armenian president noted that the current level of cooperation must be raised, given that the potential for mutually beneficial projects is great.
