Tajikistan starts exporting tractors to Afghanistan

Date:

Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) Agrotekhservis (Agritechservice), assembling Belarusian tractors, has begun exporting tractors to Afghanistan.

The first consignment of 10 Tajikistan-assembled tractors Belarus-512 was sent to Afghanistan on November 20.

“30 other tractors are expected to be delivered to Afghanistan before the end of this year,” Denis Kozlov, First Secretary, Belarusian Embassy in Dushanbe, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

“The priority for the Belarusian side is the assembly of tractors in Tajikistan and the export of them to the neighboring countries; we are particularly interested in Afghanistan,” Belarusian diplomat said

He noted that leaders of Belarus, Tajikistan and Afghanistan had initiated cooperation in a tripartite format, “that is, Belarus is working with Afghanistan through Tajikistan.”

“A business forum of representatives of Tajikistan, Belarus and Afghanistan has been held this year and Agrotekhservis and Afghan businessmen have signed an agreement on a long-term cooperation,” said Kozlov.  “Thus, the delivery of Tajikistan-assembled Belarusian tractors to Afghanistan has begun.”

The Tajik-Belarusian JV Agrotekhservis is located in the Hisor district.  The enterprise was introduced into operation in May last year in the presence of the presidents of both countries.  Agrotekhservis assembles Belarusian agricultural machines.

Over the first nine months of this year, the enterprise has reportedly assembled 160 agricultural machines, including 92 tractors.  40 agricultural machines, including 16 tractors have been exported to neighboring Uzbekistan.
