The Legatum Prosperity Index 2019, which was released on November 25, has ranked Tajikistan 114th for prosperity out of 167 countries surveyed.

The report notes that Tajikistan performs most strongly in Social Capital and Health but is weakest in Personal Freedom.

The biggest improvement compared to a decade ago reportedly came in Social Capital.

Since 2009, Tajikistan has moved up the rankings table by 8 places, the report says.

A total of 12 pillars are covered in the prosperity index, including safety and security, personal freedom, governance, social capital, living conditions, health, education and natural environment.

The top five most prosperous countries according to the report are Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden and Finland.

The Legatum Prosperity Index is an annual ranking developed by the Legatum Institute, a division of the private investment firm Legatum.  The ranking is based on a variety of factors including wealth, economic growth, education, health, personal well-being, and quality of life.
