Tajikistan concludes subsoil use contracts with 48 companies, says Tajik chief geologist

Asia-Plus

Tajikistan has large gold and silver mine reserves, Ilhomjon Oimahmadzoda, Head of the Main Geology Directorate under the Government of Tajikistan, told reporters in Dushanbe on January 29.

According to him 44 reports were submitted for consideration and examination to the State Commission for Mineral Reserves last year.

Currently, gold mining is carried out at 40 deposits, Tajik chief geologist said.

Oimahmadzoda also noted that Tajikistan had concluded subsoil use contracts with 48 companies and the State Foundation for Geology Information on Mineral Resources had already provided the companies with relevant surveys on exploration of a number of deposits.

Oimahmadzoda said that the aggregate raw-materials resources of the oil and gas bearing areas in Tajikistan amount to more than 2.026 billion tons of reference fuel, including more than 2.6 million tons of oil and more than 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

Meanwhile, experts note that production work at oil and gas fields require considerable expenditure, since hydrocarbon deposits occur at depths ranging from 6.5 to 8 kilometers.

Tajikistan reportedly has 137 deposits with estimated reserves of industrial gold and 127 deposits of non-industrial gold.  Tajikistan plans to increase annual production of gold to 17 tons beginning on 2022.
