Tajik government develops draft automobile code

Asia-Plus

The Government of Tajikistan has developed a draft automobile code.  The draft code has been sent for consideration to the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament).

The draft automobile code is expected to replace the country’s previous laws on road transport.

“The automobile code will replace the country’s laws on highways and road activities, ensuring environmental safety of transport, and other laws related to road transport,” an official source within the Majlisi Namoyandagon told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the draft automobile code has been worked out by the government upon recommendation of the Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate under the President of Tajikistan.

The automobile code reportedly provides compliance of Tajikistan’s national legislation with rules of international law, which are officially recognized by Tajikistan.

While working out the draft automobile code, the authors took into consideration experience of advanced countries, the source added.
