727 people remain in coronavirus quarantine zones in Tajikistan

Asia-Plus

Of 1,057 people who have been quarantined on arrival in Tajikistan from China, 330 people have already been released.

“727 people are still remaining in coronavirus quarantine zones organized at medical facilities across the country,” an official source within the Ministry of Health and Social Protection told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, there have been no confirmed cases of the illness in Tajikistan so far.

The released persons will remain under the supervision of doctors for a certain time, the source added.

Meanwhile, four people were released from coronavirus quarantine yesterday in the northern city of Isfara and sixteen other people were released from coronavirus quarantine in the southern city of Kulob on February 17.

A day earlier, 29 people were reportedly released from coronavirus quarantine in Kulob.

236 people were released from coronavirus quarantine at the Dushanbe infectious diseases hospital on February 14 and 15.

“We currently have no one in quarantine in our hospital,” representative of the Dushanbe infectious diseases hospital told Asia-Plus in an interview yesterday evening.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Tajikistan has printed and distributed 13,000 brochures and recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) on how to reduce the coronavirus infection risk.

Recall, Tajik health authorities stepped up preventative measures in early February as part of their efforts to contain a global epidemic.

The Tajik Health Ministry has required anybody traveling from China to remain in quarantine for a period of 14 days.  There are quarantine centers in all the country’s regions.  These kinds of policies have generated approval from the public,

Meanwhile, CNN reports that the novel coronavirus has infected more than 71,000 people around the world, mostly in mainland China.  The death toll is reportedly 1,873, including five people outside mainland China.

Another 99 people have tested positive for coronavirus onboard the stricken Princess Diamond cruise ship docked in Japan, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 454, according to The Guardian.
