Bilateral trade between Tajikistan and China increasing despite coronavirus fears

China has got ahead of Kazakhstan and come close to Russia in terms of the volume of the bilateral trade with Tajikistan. 

Compared to January last year, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and China rose 88.5 percent last month, reaching nearly 82 million U.S. dollars, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.  

This reportedly consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to China estimated at 5.8 million U.S. dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from China worth more than 76 million U.S. dollars (about 92 percent of the overall volume of the bilateral trade between the two countries).  

China supplies to Tajikistan mainly base metals and products from them, equipment and spare parts, vehicles, clothes, and various industrial goods. 

Meanwhile, China has got ahead of Kazakhstan and come close to Russia in terms of the volume of the bilateral trade with Tajikistan.

The two-way trade between Tajikistan and Russia last month amounted to 95.8 million U.S. dollars, and the bilateral between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan last month valued at 68.8 million U.S. dollars.     

Recall, Tajikistan-China border was closed last month amid coronavirus fear and the Food Security Committee of Tajikistan has put ban on import of all kinds of food products from China.  .
