Tajikistan to ask Russian authorities to give Tajik migrants financial “recess”

Asia-Plus

Tajikistan’s Embassy in Moscow intends to request the Russian Government to postpone tax and patent payment deadlines for Tajik labor migrants.

Tajik Ambassador to Russia Imomuddin Sattorov says many enterprises, where Tajik labor migrants were working, have been shut down due to coronavirus outbreak in Russia.

“In connection with this situation, labor migrants have found themselves in a difficult position,” Ambassador Sattorov told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Tajikistan intends to ask Russian authorities to temporarily exempt Tajik labor migrants from paying taxes and extending patents.

According to data from Russia’s migration agency, more than 1 million Tajik labor migrants are currently staying and working in the Russian Federation.
