Kazakhstan “as a leader in the region” ready to offer humanitarian aid to Central Asia’s nations to combat COVID-19

Kazakhstan is ready to provide humanitarian aid to the Central Asian nations to combat a novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev wrote on his Twitter page on April 7.  

The head of state noted that Kazakhstan was ready to provide assistance “as a gesture of solidarity” and “in the event of appeals by the governments” of the countries in need of assistance.

Kazakh president’s press service has released a statement, in which Toqayev notes that Kazakhstan “is a leader in the region” and that is why it is obligated to help countries in need of assistance   

Toqayev has reportedly made this statement after the visit to the center or transportation and logistics in Nur-Sultan, where food products for residents of the region are stored. 

Kazakh leader, in particular, noted that Kazakhstan is currently forming a state reserve of socially significant goods worth 14.8 billion tenge (equivalent to 33.6 million U.S. dollars.
