41 new officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported on July 28

Date:

41 new officially confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Tajikistan yesterday, bringing a total number of officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country to 7,276 as of the night of July 28, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP) said.

6,065 (83.3 percent) COVID-19 patients have reportedly recovered as of the night of July 28, 2020.

According to a MoHSPP, 60 officially confirmed COVID-19-linked deaths have been reported in the country as of the night of July 28.

90 people hospitalized on suspicion of contracting the novel coronavirus are under the supervision of doctors, the ministry said.

The Tajik authorities are taking measures to prevent the further spread of the disease in the country.

Thus, the Committee on Religious Affairs, Regulation of Traditions, Celebrations, and Ceremonies (CRA) under the Government of Tajikistan notes that large wedding receptions or parties should not currently be taking place.  Now weddings should be done only within the family with limited number of guests.  Weddings reportedly should involve no more than two households, up to 15-20 people from different households.

The Inter-Agency Standing Committee on COVID-19 Response on July 27 banned any public gatherings and celebrations on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha or Idi Qurbon (Fest of the Sacrifice), which is marked in Tajikistan this year on July 31.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Tajikistan is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).  The virus was confirmed to have spread to Tajikistan when its index cases, in Dushanbe and Khujand, were confirmed on April 30, 2020.
