Kyrgyzstan can always count on Tajikistan’s support, says Tajik president

Tajik president Emomali Rahmon has sent a cable of condolences to his Kyrgyz counterpart Sooronbay Jeenbekov over a national day of mourning declared in Kyrgyzstan today to commemorate the victims of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), according to the Tajik president’s official website.  

In his message, Tajik leader expresses sincere and deep condolences to the fraternal people of Kyrgyzstan and wished a quick recovery to the sick people. 

Rahmon expressed confidence that measures taken by the Kyrgyz government to prevent the further spread of the disease will lead to the desired results. 

“Taking this opportunity, I would like to assure you that the Kyrgyz side can always count on our every possible assistance and support,” the message says.  

Recall, Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov on July 28 signed a decree declaring July 30 as a national day of mourning to commemorate the victims of COVID-19.

All national flags across the country and at Kyrgyz embassies and diplomatic missions abroad today are flying at half-mast, and all entertainment programs and events are suspended.

As of July 29, According to Kyrgyz health authorities, the number of coronavirus cases in the country has reached 34,592, including 1,347 deaths.
