Tajikistan is waiting for the arrival of Chinese specialists to implement a number of projects, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).

An official source at a MoEDT says senior representatives of the ministry met with Chinese ambassador to Tajikistan in mid-July.

The sides reportedly discussed issues related to acceleration of construction work in the framework of project aimed at construction of a new building of Tajik parliament and government complex in Dushanbe, implementation of the third phase of the project on rehabilitation of roads in Bokhtar (currently Kushoniyon) and Kulob districts, the project on rehabilitation of the Kulob-Muminobod road and preparations for the second phase of Dushanbe-Kulob-Khorog-Kulma highway rehabilitation project, which includes rehabilitation of the Darvoz-Vanj section of the highway.

Chinese diplomat reportedly noted that Beijing planned to send 250 specialists to Tajikistan in early August for participation in the mentioned projects.

According to him, additional flights are being planned to send specialists to Tajikistan for participation in other projects, the source said.

Besides, the two sides reportedly also discussed issues related to attraction of direct investments from China, increase in export of Tajikistan’s fresh fruits and vegetables and granting relaxation on Tajikistan’s credit obligations due to effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
