One killed, one another injured in Dushanbe crane collapse

One person was killed and at least one another injured on August 8 as a crane collapsed at a construction site in Dushanbe’s Ismoili Somoni district.

According to the Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan, the accident took place in the evening on the Suhrob Street near Mehrgon bazaar.

“A 35-meter crane crashed onto roofs of three nearby residential buildings, partially damaging them” Umeda Yusufi, a spokeswoman for the Emergencies Committee, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to her, two builders were seriously injured.  One of them died on the way to a hospital.  The condition of the second builders is assessed by doctors as moderately severe.

A special commission has been set up to investigate the cause of the accident.
