Coworking Center for Youth opens in Khujand

Asia-Plus

The Coworking Center for Youth, Coworking Space TUT, has opened in Khujand, the capital of the northern Sughd province.

The Center has been established by the Office of Civil Freedoms in partnership with the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation–Tajikistan, which implements a number of initiatives in Tajikistan on promoting the inclusive education system in various spheres.

This is the first center of this kind in Khujand, which gives youth an opportunity to develop in various directions and achieve their potential.

The Coworking Space TUT will organize language courses; carry out startup training and trainings on human rights and development of financial and economic thinking.

Coworking is an arrangement in which several workers from different companies share an office space, allowing cost savings and convenience through the use of common infrastructure, such as equipment, utilities, and receptionist and custodial services, and in some cases refreshments and parcel acceptance services.

Coworking is not just about the sharing of infrastructure and cost, it is about belonging to a community, accessibility and sustainability. Coworking is the new way of working and sharing. Coworking spaces are designed to provide a productive and collaborative environment for their dynamic inhabitants, and created without corporate constraints on what is perceived to be an “office” environment offering flexible memberships to suit most needs.

Coworking is distinct from business accelerators, incubators, and executive suites.  These spaces do not fit into the coworking model because they often miss the social, collaborative, and informal aspects of the process.  In coworking, management practices are closer to that of a cooperative, including a focus on community rather than profit.
