Tajikistan has increased foreign trade amid pandemic

Asia-Plus

Mainly due to a sharp increase in exports of precious and semi-precious stones and metals.

Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover for eight months of this year amounted to over $ 3 billion. This is almost 8% more than in the same period in 2019, the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan reports.

The deficit of the republic's trade turnover (the predominance of imports over exports) amounted to $ 960 million.

The growth of foreign trade is ensured by the export of products. The volume of exports in January-August of this year amounted to more than $ 1 billion, which is almost 50% more compared to the same period last year.

Tajik products this year were primarily supplied to Switzerland (56.9% of total exports), Turkey (12.6%), Kazakhstan (9.7%).
