Asia-Plus

On September 21, on the International Day of Peace, in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, civil activists began a series of events that will take place until early October this year.

Events on behalf of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict / GPPAC are carried out on a volunteer basis by public figures from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, who are representatives of GPPAC in Central Asia.

Actions started in schools, parks, stadiums and other public places aimed at drawing the attention of the local community to the importance of maintaining peace in Central Asia, said the director of the public organization 'Journalism and Democracy' (Tajikistan) Farrukh Akhrorov.

According to him, in the cities and regions of Central Asia, young people organize street actions, sports competitions, discussions about the world, contests for the best drawings on the asphalt and many other events.

Public figures, local administrations and ordinary residents provide assistance in organizing events.

The purpose of the events is cultural and spiritual rapprochement of the public of the three countries to reduce the level of tension in the region.
