Tajikistan’s external trade turnover has amounted to more than 3.4 billion U.S. dollars over the first nine months of this year, which is 8.3 percent more than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan
In January-September this year, the trade balance was negative and amounted to little more than 1 billion U.S. dollars.
Exports of goods in January-September have reportedly amounted to about 1.2 billion U.S. dollars, which was 54.8 percent or 420 million U.S. dollars more than in the same period last year.
Over the reporting period, precious and semiprecious stones and metal, mineral products, textiles, non-precious metals and cotton fiber were exported to Switzerland, Turkey and Kazakhstan. These countries were major trading partners of Tajikistan’s export sales in January-September this year.
Imports of goods into the country over the same nine-month period have amounted to more than 2.2 billion U.S. dollars, which was 6.6 percent or 158 million U.S. dollars fewer than in January-September last year.
The main items of Tajikistan’s imports were oil products, products of chemical industry, wheat flour, food products, mineral products, etc.
In January-September, major trading partners of Tajikistan’s imports were Russia, China and Kazakhstan.
Over the reporting period, Tajikistan reportedly had trade relations with 108 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.
Over the reporting period, major trading partners of Tajikistan were: Russia – 721 million U.S. dollars; Switzerland – 693 million U.S. dollars; Kazakhstan – 634 million U.S. dollars; China – 342 million U.S. dollars; Uzbekistan – 242 million U.S. dollars; and Turkey – 235 million U.S. dollars.
