Resumption of flights between Dushanbe and Tashkent postponed until the next year

Date:

Resumption of flights between Dushanbe and Tashkent is postponed until January 1, 2021, an official source within the Tajik government told Asia-Plus today morning.

“A complex epidemiological situation due to COVID-19 in both countries does not allow the authorities of the two countries to make a quick and final decision on the matter,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Agency of Tajikistan has reportedly received the go-ahead to resume flights to Tashkent, but the exact date of the first flight and the flight schedule are still unknown.

A source within the Civil Aviation Agency has confirmed that they have got permission from the Standing Committee on COVID-19 Response to resume regular flights to Uzbekistan.

“Our Uzbek colleagues have also got permission, but the exact date of resumption of flights is still unknown,” the Civil Aviation Agency source said.

He further added that the civil aviation authorities of the two countries would hold a meeting in video-conference format within the next few days to discuss and approve the date of the first flight and the flight schedule.

Air traffic between Tajikistan and Dushanbe has been suspended since March 16, 2020.

Recall, Tajik authorities have suspended all international flights.  Tajikistan closed all its airports at midnight on March 19-20 due to the coronavirus concerns.  Only charters flights to repatriate Tajik nationals stranded in foreign countries due to the coronavirus crisis have been operated so far.

In early August, Tajikistan resumed regular flights to Dubai.
