Asia-Plus

According to the data from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP), 41 new officially confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Tajikistan yesterday, bringing a total number of the officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country to 11,180 as of the evening of November 4.

The number of coronavirus-linked deaths remains the same in the country – 83, a MoHSPP says.

10,438 coronavirus patients have reportedly recovered in the country as of the evening of November 4.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Tajikistan is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).  The virus was confirmed to have spread to Tajikistan when its index cases, in Dushanbe and Khujand, were confirmed on April 30, 2020.

The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 216 countries and territories around the world.

According to COVID-19 data provided by Worldometer, coronavirus cases around the globe have been reported at 48,438,567 since China reported its first cases to the World Health Organization (WHO) in December last year.  Of them, 34,674,181 have recovered and 1,231,019 have died.

Meanwhile, the Word Health Organization (WHO) yesterday reported 46 million cases worldwide, with a growing proportion among young people.

The United States reported its second-highest number of new COVID-19 cases on Election Day, with more than 91,000 infections, CNN said yesterday

The United States reportedly recorded 91,530 new COVID-19 infections on the day many Americans cast their ballots, adding to a series of staggering case numbers reported within just the past week.

The country's five highest days of coronavirus cases have all been recorded since October 29, affirming experts' warnings that another surge is well underway and will only get worse.

Data from Johns Hopkins University show that the nationwide seven-day average of new daily cases now stands at about 86,363 — more than double what it was on September 4.

As infections across Europe rise exponentially, Italy will impose a new stay-at-home order, while Poland and Russia are reporting record case numbers, according to CNN.
