Incomes of private telecom operators in the republic for nine months of this year increased by 82 million somoni ($ 7.2 million) compared to the same period last year.
According to the Communication Service, private operators in January-September this year earned 1 billion 860 million somoni, which is 4.6% more than the same period last year.
The share of private mobile operators in the communications sector of the republic is 94%.
The revenues of the national telecom operator (Tajiktelecom), the State Unitary Enterprise Pochtai Tojik, as well as other divisions of the Communication Service, on the contrary, decreased by 25%: from 146 million somoni in January-September last year to 110 million somoni in the same period of this year.
As of October 1 of this year, the number of Internet users in Tajikistan amounted to more than 3.1 million subscribers, and the number of mobile communication users – over almost 6 million, of which about 5.3 million are active subscribers.

Four operators operate in the republic's mobile communications market: CJSC Indigo Tajikistan (Tcell), CJSC TT-Mobile (MegaFon Tajikistan), CJSC Babilon Mobile and LLC Takom (ZetMobile, formerly Beeline).
In October of this year, it was reported about the imminent start of activity in Tajikistan of another cellular communication company – "O Mobile".
The growth in income of mobile operators is most likely associated with the rise in prices for mobile services in the second quarter of this year, as well as with the coronavirus pandemic, which is why many people began to work remotely and, accordingly, use more mobile communications and mobile Internet.
