Asia-Plus

According to the data from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP), 41 new officially confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Tajikistan yesterday, bringing a total number of the officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country to 11,772 as of the evening of November 19.

The number of coronavirus-linked deaths remains the same in the country – 86, a MoHSPP says.

43 COVID-19 patients were reportedly discharged after recovery yesterday. In all, 11,148 coronavirus patients have reportedly recovered in the country as of the evening of November 19.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Tajikistan is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).  The virus was confirmed to have spread to Tajikistan when its index cases, in Dushanbe and Khujand, were confirmed on April 30, 2020.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases are on rise in the Central Asian region.

A total of 123,888 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Kazakhstan as of the evening of November 19.  The death toll has reportedly risen to 1,945, while 11,483 recoveries have been reported.

Uzbekistan has reported 71,071 cases of COVID-19 as of the evening of November 19.  Of them, 68,327 have recovered and 602 have died.

Kyrgyzstan has registered 68,702 COVID-19 cases and 1,223 fatalities as of the evening of November 19.  Recoveries have reportedly reached 59,789.

Turkmenistan still persists in COVID denial.  Turkmenistan remains one of the very few countries in the world to have reported not a single case of the novel coronavirus. Turkmen authorities say they have enacted all possible measures to combat the virus, which they maintain has not penetrated into their country.
