Two Tajikistanis detained in Kyrgyzstan with 4 tons of smuggled tangerines

Date:

The Kyrgyz border service says two Tajikistanis have been detained in Kyrgyzstan’s Leilek district with four tons of smuggled tangerines.

On January 3, Kyrgyz border guards detained a Mercedes-Sprinter minibus with Tajik number plate that was in Kyrgyz territory illegally.

While searching the minibus, the border guards found four tons of tangerines without permits, Kyrgyz border service’s press center says.  A total cost of the smuggled tangerines is 300,000 soms (equivalent to more than 40,000 somonis).

The confiscated cargo and detainees were reportedly handed over to employees of the competent authorities for further investigation.
