Uzbek national air carrier will operate one-time charter flight from Tashkent to Dushanbe tomorrow

Asia-Plus

The Uzbek national air carrier will operate a charter flight Tashkent-Dushanbe-Tashkent on January 5.

“It will be one-time commercial flight.  We don't know who will fly in and who get on this flight out of Dushanbe,” a source close to the Tajik civil aviation authorities told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Uzbek Airways’ official website says a ticket on this flight costs 162.5 U.S. dollars for economy class and 225.5 U.S. dollars for business class.

Negotiations on resumption of regular flights between Dushanbe and Tashkent is still under way as a complex epidemiological situation due to COVID-19 in both countries does not allow the authorities of the two countries to make a quick and final decision on the matter

Joint-Stock Company (JSC) Uzbekistan Airways (Oʻzbekiston Havo Yoʻllari) is the flag carrier airline of Uzbekistan, headquartered in Tashkent. From its hub at Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport, the airline serves a number of domestic destinations; the company also flies international services to Asia, Europe and North America.

Meanwhile a charter flight from Dushanbe to Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) has been postponed to unknown date due to low passenger traffic.

Air traffic between Tajikistan and Dushanbe has been suspended since March 16, 2020.

Recall, Tajik authorities have suspended all international flights.  Tajikistan closed all its airports at midnight on March 19-20 due to the coronavirus concerns.  Only charters flights to repatriate Tajik nationals stranded in foreign countries due to the coronavirus crisis have been operated so far.

To-date, Tajikistan has resumed regular flights to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Istanbul (Turkey).
