Passengers on flights from Istanbul and Kabul must undergo special control and take additional test for COVID-19

Asia-Plus

“Currently, nationals of all countries can arrive in Tajikistan by air, passengers on flights from some countries must undergo a special control,” Navrouz Jaffarov, the head of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP), told Asia-Plus in an interview.

He noted that passengers arriving in Tajikistan by air must have a certificate showing the negative result of COVID-19, obtained by testing by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method, and made no earlier than 72 hours (3 days) prior to arrival.

Meanwhile, passengers on flights from some countries must take an additional test for COVID-19.

“Thus, passengers on flights from Istanbul (Turkey) and Kabul (Afghanistan)  must undergo a special control and take an additional test for COVID-19.  Besides, they are advised to practice self-quarantine (to stay at home for 3 days and wait for the test results),” Jaffarov said.

According to him, the decision has been taken because the epidemiological situation in Turkey has worsened, and it is not calm in Afghanistan.

“More than 60,000 new COVID-19 infections were reported in Turkey on April 21 and  the situation is getting worse,” Jaffarov told Asia-Plus Friday afternoon.

“The situation in Afghanistan is unsettled and no one can guarantee epidemiological safety.  Afghan national entering Tajikistan by land must also take the additional test for COVID-19, Tajik health official added.

This publication was prepared at the request of foreign citizens, who applied to Asia-Plus for information.

“We want to travel to Tajikistan but did not find any information regarding entry into the country on the websites of the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Health of Tajikistan,” they wrote to us.

Indeed, websites of authorized agencies of Tajikistan do not make available such an information, and this is at least strange, because during a pandemic, such information, decisions, regulations should and are published in other countries.  This is important to avoid misunderstandings, misinterpretations and, in principle, chaos.

We have not been able to reach the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  to find out the reason for this flaw.
