Tajik foreign minister holds talks with his Kyrgyz counterpart in Xi’an

Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin yesterday met in Xi’an, the capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, within his Kyrgyz counterpart Ruslan Kazakbayev on the sidelines of the second China + Central Asia (C+C5) foreign ministers meeting.  

In the course of the talks, the parties discussed issues of the early implementation of the agreements reached by the heads of the two states and protocols signed by the government delegations and working groups of the two countries on delimitation and demarcation of the mutual border, according to the Tajik MFA information department.   

Muhriddin and Kazakbayev reportedly noted the significance of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in trade, transportation, energy and other sectors.   

Yesterday, Tajik foreign minister also attended an official opening ceremony of the Fifth Silk Road International Exposition.

Chinese media reports say the expo opened with deeper Belt and Road economic cooperation one of the hot topics on agenda.

Xinhua notes that themed “Interconnection, Contribution, and Shared Benefits,” the expo has attracted more than 1,900 envoys and guests from 98 countries and regions such as Belgium, the Republic of Korea, Tajikistan, and Zambia.

The Tajik MFA information department says that in a statement delivered at the expo opening ceremony, Muhriddin noted the importance of the Silk Road International Exposition as a new platform for expansion of cooperation between the countries of the region.
