GIZ IRDP/TRIGGER-II Incubation Program for young entrepreneurs launched in Tajikistan.

The First Business Incubation Program was launched in Tajikistan last week within the fourth output of the GIZ IRDP/TRIGGER-II project, funded by the EU and the German Government.  This initiative was implemented by PEM Consulting partners in cooperation with the School of Business.

The opening of the incubation program was attended by the director of the GIZ IRDP/TRIGGER-II project, Wulf-Hendrik Goretzky, the trainers and mentors of the business school, PEM Consulting employees and the participants of the incubation program.

In his opening speech, the director of the GIZ IRDP/TRIGGER-II project, Wulf-Hendrik Goretzky, noted the importance of implementing this component – “We are paying special attention to the young generation of entrepreneurs, giving them the opportunity to mentor and giving them working tools for the implementation of creative ideas and providing mentoring.  Our task is to grow support a promising generation of entrepreneurs with strong knowledge and skills.  We express our gratitude for the work and experience that the trainers of the Dushanbe Business School invest and share with the participants and believe that this Program will be an impetus to the development and support of entrepreneurship in Tajikistan," he concluded.

 

What is the "incubation program" and who are its participants?

The Incubation Program is the second stage of the Startup component within the project.  The first stage included conducting a 3-day seminar – "Start-Up Bootcamp," where participants, along with receiving the theoretical basis of entrepreneurship, had the opportunity to present their ideas.  The incubation program is designed to "pump" the knowledge of young and start-up entrepreneurs.  Some of them already have their own small projects to implement.

It is planned to organize 5 incubation programs – 3 in Dushanbe and 2 in Khujand for 100 Start-uppers for three months in cooperation with pre-selected local partner institutions.

GIZ IRDP/TRIGGER II – Integrated Rural Development Project/Promoting inclusive rural economic growth for the well-being of the population.

The incubation program is part of the Integrated Rural Development Project/ Towards Rural Inclusive Growth and Economic Resilience.  The project was initiated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Union.

The objectives of the project are in increasing the added value of agricultural products in Tajikistan.  The project has five Outputs, aimed at improving the enabling business environment and policy dialogue, improving the productivity of agricultural value chains, facilitating access to export markets, and improving the enabling environment in integrated water resources management.
