Emomali Rahmon pays working visit to Khovaling district in Khatlon province

Asia-Plus

On Sunday October 3, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon visited Khatlon’s Khovaling district, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

In Khovaling, Emomali Rahmon visited mazor (the Tajik word mazor is borrowed from Arabic language. Literally meaning "a place for visit") of Hazrat Sultan Uwais al-Qarani, where Tajik leader prayed for peace and tranquility in the country.

Uwais ibn Amir ibn Jaz' ibn Malik al-Qarani, also spelled Uways or Owais, was a Muslim from Yemen who lived during the lifetime of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.  His burial place is in Raqqa, Syria. Although he lived during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad, he never physically met him so he is not counted among the Companions of the Prophet.  He however met Muhammad's companion Omar and is therefore seen as from among the Tabi'un.  Among the Tabi'un he is specially known as Khayr al-Tabi'een (The Best of the Tabi'un) and Sayyid al-Tabi'een Fi Zamanahu (Leader of the Tabi'un of his Era').  His memorial shrine is in al-Raqqah, Syria. It was destroyed by Islamic State terror group in 2013.

In Jombakht jamoat, Rahmon visited the exhibition of flowers, medicinal plants and medications made from them.

Six modern hotels, ten hostels, four tourist zones, two restaurants, two museums mow operate in Khovaling.

Two tourist companies operate in the district, where there are 60 historical relics, the Tajik president’s official website says.

In Tutak jamoat, Tajik leader reportedly inaugurated a new school that will accommodate 480 pupils in two shifts.

In Parviz T farming unit, Emomali Rahmon visited an orchard and got acquainted with activities of local gardeners.  He also inaugurated a poultry farm in Parviz T farming unit.

In Lohouti village, the president inaugurated a 2,000-seat amphitheater, which was constructed by local entrepreneur Farhod Rahimzoda.
