Somon Makhmadbekov raised his rating at the Grand Prix in Paris

Tajik judoka Somon Makhmadbekov took fifth place at the Paris Grand Slam tournament. He was the only athlete from Tajikistan to compete in this tournament.

Somon Makhmadbekov in the weight category up to 73 kg defeated athletes from Mongolia, Spain, Azerbaijan in three rounds and reached the semifinals. In the semifinals, Somon lost to the French athlete Theo Ryukin, and in the fight for third place – to the athlete from Romania. As a result, the Tajik judoka took fifth place.

The winners and prize-winners, along with medals, were awarded cash prizes: the winner received 5 thousand euros, the silver medalist – 3 thousand, and two bronze winners of 1,500 euros each.

Despite the fact that Somon failed to become one of the winners, he was able to score 232 points in the international ranking of judokas. Before the start of the Grand Prix, Makhmadbekov was in 15th place with 2 657 points.
