Russian air carrier resumes flights to Tajikistan

Russian air carrier, Nordwind Airlines, has resumed flights on the route from Moscow to Bokhtar, the capital of Tajikistan’s Khatlon province, according to the Tajik Civil Aviation Agency.  

Nordwind Airlines began operating flights from Moscow to Bokhtar in 2018 and the company has permit to operate seven flights per week.

The company had reportedly suspended flights due to the coronavirus crisis. 

A ticket for the flight Moscow to Bokhtar now costs almost 12,000 Russian rubles (equivalent 1,904 somonis) and a ticket for the flight from Bokhtar to Moscow now costs more than 18,000 Russian rubles (equivalent to 2,856 somonis).

The introduction of the new rate is connected with a seasonal increase in passenger traffic from Bokhtar to Moscow and seasonal decrease in passenger traffic from Moscow to Bokhtar. 

Nordwind Airlines, LLC is a Russian leisure airline. The company is headquartered in Moscow, and its hub is at Sheremetyevo International Airport.  Nordwind Airlines primarily operates service between airports in Russia and holiday destinations around the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean.

Founded in August 2008 by the Russian and Turkish branches of tour operator Pegas Touristik, Nordwind initially operated three Boeing 757-200s

As of April 2020, Nordwind Airlines fleet has reportedly comprised the following aircraft: 10 Airbus A321-200s; 2 Airbus A32s; 3 Airbus A330-200s; 4 Airbus A330-300s; 12 Boeing 737-800s; 6 Boeing 777-200ERs; and 3 Boeing 777-300ERs
