On Tuesday October 26, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin met in Tehran with his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amirabdollahian, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

In the course of the talks, the parties reportedly expressed their intention to expand political, trade, economic and cultural ties. The importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations was also emphasized.

The parties noted the role of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Technical and Cultural Cooperation for expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.

Besides, they exchanged views on the implementation of joint projects and the use of the existing potential to expand cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues related to cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international and regional organizations.

The foreign ministers of the two countries, expressing their concern about the intensification of terrorism, extremism, challenges and threats of the modern world, stressed the importance of jointly combating these phenomena.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the second foreign ministerial meeting of neighbors of Afghanistan plus Russia that is being held in Tehran today.

Meanwhile, Iranian media reports say Amirabdollahian praised Tajikistan hosting Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and stressed the importance of developing all-out cooperation.

He expressed satisfaction over the capacity of cooperation in technical-engineering, tourism, industries, mine, and agriculture fields.

He noted that the two countries can cooperate in the SCO framework.

He reiterated Iran's view regarding formation of an inclusive government in the presence of all ethnic groups in Afghanistan.
