Over the first nine months of this year, the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Afghanistan has valued at 76.7 million U.S. dollars (USD), which is 35.7 percent more than in the same period last year, says the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Afghanistan amounting to 98.4 percent and Tajikistan’s imports from Afghanistan amounting to 1.6 percent.
In September, the bilateral trade between the two countries reportedly valued at 12.2 million USD. In August, when the Taliban seized the power in Afghanistan, the two-way trade between the countries also valued at 12.2 million USD.
Electricity has reportedly accounted for about 60 percent of Tajikistan’s exports to Afghanistan. Tajikistan also supplies cement and some types of food, agricultural products to Afghanistan.
