The CDC recommends that US citizens avoid travel to Tajikistan

Asia-Plus

The United States national public heal agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), recommends that citizens of the United States avoid travel to Tajikistan because the current COVID-19 situation in Tajikistan is unknown.

Even fully vaccinated travelers reportedly may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants.

The CDC notes that if US citizens must travel to Tajikistan they should make sure they are fully vaccinated before travel.

Travelers should follow recommendations or requirements in Tajikistan, including wearing a mask and staying 6 feet (1.8 meters) apart from others, according to the CDC.

The CDC notes that fully vaccinated travelers are less likely to get and spread COVID-19, however, international travel reportedly poses additional risks, and even fully vaccinated travelers might be at increased risk for getting and possibly spreading some COVID-19 variants.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is a United States federal agency, under the Department of Health and Human Services, and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

The agency's main goal is the protection of public health and safety through the control and prevention of disease, injury, and disability in the US and worldwide.  The CDC focuses national attention on developing and applying disease control and prevention.  It especially focuses its attention on infectious disease, food borne pathogens, environmental health, occupational safety and health, health promotion, injury prevention and educational activities designed to improve the health of United States citizens.  The CDC also conducts research and provides information on non-infectious diseases, such as obesity and diabetes, and is a founding member of the International Association of National Public Health Institutes.
