A total volume of taxes and other mandatory payments collected in Tajikistan last year amounted to more than 13.722 billion somonis (equivalent to more than 1, billion U.S. dollars).
The Tax Committee head Nusratullo Davlatzoda stated this at a news conference in Dushanbe on February 2.
According to him, this is almost 101 million somonis (8.9 million U.S. dollars) more than it was originally planned.
“Inspections carried out by tax officers last year revealed hidden taxes in the amount of 1 billion somonis (88.5 million U.S. dollars),” Tajik chief tax officer said.
This amount accounts for 7.3% of all payments collected by tax authorities in 2021.
“As of January 1, 2022, remaining tax debts amounted to 781 million somonis, which is 102 million somonis less than at the beginning of 2021,” Davlatzoda noted.
He further added that twelve tax officers were detained last year for corruption-related offenses, which was to persons more than in the previous years.
According to the Unified State Register, more than 338,800 economic entities have operated in Tajikistan as of January 1, 2022, which is 3,500 entities more than at the beginning of 2021.
